60,000 BTUs Across Four Burners, Plus a Pro-Sear Zone That Hits 800°F — Serious Heat in a 36-Inch Built-In

The Sunstone Ruby Series RUBY4B brings four-burner power and steakhouse-style searing to a flush, built-in footprint.

The Sunstone Ruby Series RUBY4B is a 36-inch built-in gas grill built entirely from 304 stainless steel, with 837 square inches of total cooking space across four main burners and a generous secondary warming area. A dedicated Pro-Sear infrared zone reaches up to 800°F for steakhouse-style finishing, while independent Flame-Thrower ignition, heat-changing LED control panel lighting, and interior halogen lights round out a grill built for serious outdoor kitchens.

RUBY4B Features & Benefits

Built for entertaining groups, not just a couple of steaks.

60,000 BTU

Four Burners, Serious Output

Four 11-gauge fabricated I-burners deliver up to 60,000 BTUs combined, giving you the heat reserve to run multiple zones at full output without losing temperature.

837 sq in

Room for a Full Spread

653 square inches of primary grates plus 184 square inches of secondary warming space means you can cook mains and hold sides hot at the same time, without crowding the grates.

800°F

Pro-Sear Finishing Heat

The Pro-Sear infrared zone reaches up to 700°F with the hood up and 800°F with the hood closed, giving you a hard, steakhouse-style crust on demand.

304 SS

Built for the Long Haul

Every panel, burner, and grate is built from 304 stainless steel, so the grill holds its finish through humid summers and salty coastal air instead of pitting after a season.

What's Included in the Box

In the Box

  • Sunstone RUBY4B grill head (liquid propane or natural gas, per your fuel selection)
  • Smoker box
  • Back hood wind guards
  • Spill-Away and Heat-Riser warming grids
  • Hose and regulator for your selected fuel type
  • Owner's manual

Sold separately: rotisserie kit.

Deep Dive — Spill-Away, Heat-Riser & Install Details

Spill-Away and Heat-Riser Grids Keep Flare-Ups in Check

The angled Spill-Away warming grid channels grease and drippings toward the rear of the firebox instead of into the flame, while the Heat-Riser grid pushes extra heat toward the front for more even temperatures across the grates — fewer surprise flare-ups, more consistent cooks.

Sized to Drop Into a 33 1/2" x 22" x 10" Cutout

The RUBY4B is built to drop into a 33 1/2-inch by 22-inch by 10-inch cutout, with an overall footprint of 36 inches wide by 27 inches deep by 22 inches tall. With the hood open, plan for roughly 30 inches of front-to-back clearance and about 25 1/2 inches from the countertop to the top of the hood, plus roughly 3 inches of hood overhang at the back. Measure your island opening and overhead clearance against these numbers before you order so the grill seats flush on install day.

Choose Your Fuel Type

The RUBY4B is available in liquid propane (RUBY4B-LP) or natural gas (RUBY4B-NG) configurations — select your fuel type above to match your existing gas line.

Who It's For — The Deck & Den Take

The Deck & Den Take — If you're choosing between the RUBY3B and the RUBY4B, the extra burner and roughly 150 extra square inches of cooking space on the 4B make a real difference once you're cooking for a crowd rather than a couple of steaks. Use the Pro-Sear zone deliberately — let the main burners do the bulk of the cooking, then finish on Pro-Sear for the crust. And if you're weighing a rotisserie kit, plan for it during your island design, since it's sold separately and easiest to wire in before the countertop goes down.
  • Built-in island owners hosting larger groups who need genuine four-burner capacity, not a stretched-thin 3-burner setup.
  • Cooks who treat searing as a finishing step and want a dedicated Pro-Sear zone instead of cranking the whole grill to max heat.
  • Hosts who entertain after dark and want LED and halogen lighting built in, not bolted on.
  • Anyone upgrading from a 30-inch grill who needs more grate space without stepping up past a 36-inch footprint.
  • Buyers planning a future rotisserie setup who want a grill that supports the optional kit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the LP and NG versions?

RUBY4B-LP runs on liquid propane and RUBY4B-NG runs on natural gas. Both share the same burners, dimensions, and features — select the fuel type that matches your existing gas line.

How many BTUs does the RUBY4B put out?

The four main I-burners produce a combined 60,000 BTUs. A separate Pro-Sear infrared burner adds dedicated finishing heat on top of that.

Why do some other sites list 80,000 BTUs for this grill?

That figure typically refers to a different Sunstone SKU — the RUBY4B-IR — which adds an extra rotisserie infrared burner not included on the standard RUBY4B. The grill described here is rated at 60,000 BTUs across its four main burners.

What is the Pro-Sear burner for?

It's a dedicated infrared zone for finishing steaks, chops, and other cuts with a hard, restaurant-style crust, reaching up to 700°F with the hood up and 800°F with the hood closed.

What cutout size do I need for installation?

The grill requires a 33 1/2 in. wide by 22 in. deep by 10 in. tall cutout. Confirm your island's opening against these dimensions before ordering.

Is a rotisserie included?

No — the RUBY4B supports an optional rotisserie kit, but it's sold separately and not included with the grill.

What's included in the box?

The grill ships with a smoker box, back hood wind guards, Spill-Away and Heat-Riser warming grids, a hose and regulator for your selected fuel type, and the owner's manual.

What's covered under warranty?

Sunstone covers the stainless steel burners, cooking grids, and housings for the lifetime of the original purchaser, and other components such as ignitors, knobs, valves, and tubing for one year. Full terms are in the product manual above.

How much does the grill weigh?

The grill head weighs 134 lb on its own — useful to know when planning crane support or lift assistance for your island build.

How is each burner lit?

Each burner has its own independent Flame-Thrower ignition, so lighting one zone doesn't depend on the others working.

How does the RUBY4B compare to the RUBY3B?

The RUBY4B adds a fourth main burner and roughly 150 additional square inches of total cooking space (837 sq. in. versus 687 sq. in. on the RUBY3B), in a 36-inch footprint instead of 30 inches. Both share the same Pro-Sear burner, lighting, and warranty terms.

What if it doesn't fit my island?

If the unit doesn't fit your cutout or isn't right for your setup, it's covered by Deck & Den's 45-day return policy — just contact us before sending it back.
