Everything You Need, Day One — Primo Oval XL 400 All-In-One with Cradle, Shelves, and Tools Included

The Primo Oval XL 400 All-In-One is the complete freestanding package — 400 in² of patented two-zone oval cooking surface, rolling cradle with locking wheels, FDA-grade folding side shelves, ash tool, and grate lifter, ready to cook out of the box.

The grill itself is the same Primo Oval XL 400 that defines the category: SuperCeramic walls that hold temperature from a 180°F all-day smoke to an 850°F searing crust, a patented oval firebox that runs direct and indirect zones simultaneously without accessories or workarounds, and a lift-and-lock hinge that opens with 70% less force than older kamado designs. What the All-In-One configuration adds is the complete ready-to-use package — rolling cradle, FDA-approved folding shelves that fold flush when not needed, ash tool, and grate lifter. Optional racks add another 280 square inches of cooking surface. Made in Georgia since 1996, backed by Primo's Lifetime Ceramic Warranty, and built to be the last grill you buy.

Who It's For — The Deck & Den Take

The All-In-One is the right choice if you want the full Primo Oval XL 400 cooking experience in a freestanding setup that's genuinely ready to use the day it arrives. The cradle, shelves, ash tool, and grate lifter are all included — no hunting down accessories, no separate stand order. The rolling cradle with locking wheels also means you can move it around your patio without the struggle a 327 lb. grill would otherwise present.

If you're building an outdoor kitchen island and plan to drop the grill head into a cutout, the grill-head-only PGCXLH is the more practical option — the All-In-One cart isn't designed for island integration. And if you want the same setup with the Jack Daniels edition finish, that's the PGCXLHJ.

The explicit +280 in² rack expansion figure is one of the clearer specs in the Primo lineup — 400 in² base, 680 in² total with optional racks. If you plan to add racks, budget for them separately and order them at the same time.

  • Buyers who want a complete, ready-to-cook Primo XL 400 freestanding setup without sourcing any additional components
  • Anyone who wants mobility — the rolling cradle with locking wheels makes a 327 lb. grill genuinely movable on a patio
  • Serious outdoor cooks who want 400 in² of patented two-zone oval cooking with the full 180–850°F range
  • Buyers upgrading from a kettle, gas grill, or entry-level kamado to a lifetime-warranted, American-made ceramic cooker

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the Primo Oval XL 400 All-In-One and the grill-head-only model?

The grill body is identical. The All-In-One (PGCXLC) includes the rolling cradle with locking wheels, FDA-approved folding side shelves, ash tool, and grate lifter — everything you need to cook freestanding on day one. The grill-head-only model (PGCXLH) is designed for island or custom base installation and does not include any cart or stand.

What is the cooking surface area, and how much can I expand it?

The primary cooking surface is 400 in². Optional extension racks (sold separately) add 280 in², bringing total cooking surface to 680 in².

Does this grill support two-zone cooking?

Yes. The patented oval firebox allows true simultaneous direct and indirect cooking zones side by side — no dividers or workarounds needed.

What temperature range does the Primo XL 400 All-In-One reach?

The Primo XL 400 operates from 180°F to 850°F, with temperature controlled by adjusting the 6-position chimney cap and 5-position lower vent door.

Can I move the All-In-One around my patio?

Yes. The rolling cradle has locking wheels, so you can move the grill when needed and lock it in place during cooking. At 327 lbs., it still requires care to move — the wheels make it manageable, not effortless.

What accessories are available for the Primo XL 400?

Optional accessories include extension racks (+280 in² cooking surface), heat deflectors, pizza stone, and rotisserie-style accessories. All are sold separately.

What fuel does this grill use?
