Three things work together: the play surface is a 1-in HDF laminated waterproof slab that resists moisture intrusion and won't warp; the cloth is a UV-resistant, weatherproof electric-blue fabric that stays flat and colorfast through sun and rain; and the rails, legs, and corners are powder-coated aluminum, which is inherently corrosion-resistant. Together they make a table that can live outside and still play like an indoor table.

The table measures 99 inches long x 55 inches wide x 31 inches tall (approximately 251 x 140 x 79 cm). The playing surface itself is 88 inches long x 44 inches wide — a standard 8-ft regulation playfield.

Standard billiards guidance calls for at least 5 feet of clearance on all four sides to allow a full backswing with a standard 57-in or 58-in cue. For a 99-in x 55-in table that means your play area should be at least 219 in x 175 in (roughly 18 ft 3 in x 14 ft 7 in). If space is tighter, shorter cues can compensate along walls.

Hathaway lists assembly at approximately 50 minutes. You'll need a level, a Phillips head screwdriver, and a hex wrench — the hex wrench is included in the box; the level and screwdriver are not. The main task is bolting on the legs and adjusting the built-in leg levelers for a flat playing surface.

Yes. The Alpine ships with two composite cue sticks, a set of 2.25-in billiard balls, two pieces of chalk, an ABS plastic ball rack (triangle), an ABS plastic brush for cloth care, and a rip-resistant nylon cover. You can rack and play as soon as assembly is complete.

K55 is a cushion profile standard used widely in professional and club billiards tables. The profile and gum rubber compound are calibrated to give a fast, predictable rebound angle — shots bank consistently without dying on the rail or kicking off erratically. It's a meaningful upgrade over the softer or inconsistent rubber found on entry-level tables.

The Alpine is engineered for outdoor use with waterproof and UV-resistant components. For best long-term results — particularly in climates with heavy rain, snow, or extreme temperature swings — using the included nylon cover when the table isn't in play is recommended. If you're in a region with harsh winters, storing it covered in a sheltered area (garage, covered patio) during the off-season will extend its life further.

Slate is the gold standard for indoor billiards because of its weight and dimensional stability. HDF (high-density fiberboard) is the appropriate material for outdoor pool tables — it is much lighter than slate, which matters enormously for a table that needs to live outside and may be moved or reassembled, and Hathaway's laminated waterproof version is engineered to resist the moisture that would destroy an untreated wood surface. The trade-off is that slate remains flatter over many years without re-leveling, while HDF is best maintained by keeping it covered and level year-round.

The Alpine weighs 306 lbs (approximately 139 kg). Plan to have at least two people on hand for uncrating, moving, and assembly — especially for lifting the main table body into position and for maneuvering through gates or around pool equipment. The leg installation itself can be managed with two adults.

The Alpine is designed to handle direct exposure to sun and rain — a covered patio is excellent for it and will extend the life of the cloth and surface. Full shelter isn't required, but covering the table when not in use is always a good practice regardless of overhead protection.

The Alpine has built-in adjustable leg levelers. During assembly, after the legs are bolted on, place a level on the playfield and adjust each leveler until the surface is perfectly flat in both directions. A level is not included in the box — you'll need to supply your own — and is essential for consistent ball roll.

Use the included ABS brush to remove chalk dust and debris regularly — always brush toward a pocket, never in circles, to avoid raising the nap. For light surface dirt, a slightly damp cloth works on the UV-resistant fabric; avoid harsh cleaners or soaking. Keep the table covered when not in use to minimize UV exposure and debris accumulation, even though the cloth is UV-rated for outdoor use.
