1,056 Square Inches of Flameless Grilling — Purpose-Built for Drop-In Installation in Fiberglass and Marine Vessels
The ElectriChef Diamond 48" Marine Built-In: full Diamond-series performance with ½" perimeter insulation engineered specifically for installation in fiberglass boat galleys and yachts — no open flame, no propane, no fire risk on the water.
The standard Diamond 48" Built-In is made for masonry islands. This one is made for fiberglass hulls. The Marine Built-In (Model 8800-EC-1056-IM-D-48) wraps the grill body in ½" Hardie Soffit insulation on the sides and back — the thermal barrier that protects surrounding hull material, cabinetry, and deck from 8,800 watts of sustained cooking heat. The cooking engine is identical to the land-based Diamond: 1,056 square inches of flameless surface, dual independent digital zones from 150°F to 600°F, dual 10–60 minute timers, and 18-gauge 304 stainless throughout. No open flame means no propane storage risk and no combustion conflict aboard. Built in Temple, Texas, and fully assembled — prepare your galley cut-out and electrical, lower it in, and cook.
What Sets the Marine Built-In Apart
Every element of the Diamond 48" Marine Built-In is designed around one reality: a boat galley demands more from a built-in grill than a land-based outdoor kitchen does — more heat protection for surrounding materials, zero combustion risk, and the same uncompromising cooking performance regardless of where you're anchored.

½" Insulation
Engineered Safe for Fiberglass Installation
Hardie Soffit insulation on all sides and the back of the grill body creates a thermal barrier between the 8,800-watt cooking surface and the surrounding fiberglass hull, cabinetry, and structural materials — the critical difference between this model and the standard built-in, and the reason this is the correct choice for any marine installation.
Zero Flame
No Propane, No Fire Risk Aboard
Flameless electric operation eliminates propane storage, refueling logistics, and the combustion risks that come with gas on the water — while still delivering a full searing range up to 600°F and precise low-temperature control down to 150°F.
1,056 sq. in.
Enough Surface to Feed the Whole Crew
At 22" deep by 48" wide, the cooking surface handles the full spread — fish, steaks, vegetables, sides — simultaneously, without relay cooking or keeping guests waiting between rounds.
Dual Zones
Two Independent Temperatures at Once
Two digital control panels operate separate halves of the cooking surface independently — sear fish on high on one side while grilled vegetables finish low on the other, simultaneously, with no cross-zone interference.
304 SS
Built to Outlast the Salt Air
18-gauge, 304-grade stainless steel with a #3 brushed finish is the standard in marine and commercial outdoor kitchens specifically because it resists corrosion in salt-air environments better than lesser alloys — season after season, on the water.
Fully Assembled
Drop In and Connect — That's It
The grill arrives completely assembled. Prepare the cut-out and electrical connection in your vessel's galley, lower the grill into position, connect to your 208/220V outlet, and it's operational — no additional assembly required aboard.

Why the Marine Model — Not the Standard Built-In — for Fiberglass Vessels
The standard Diamond 48" Built-In is designed for installation in masonry, concrete, or steel-stud island enclosures — materials that handle the radiant heat of an 8,800-watt grill without insulation. Fiberglass is different. It can be damaged by sustained heat exposure without an adequate thermal barrier between the grill body and the hull material. The Marine model addresses this directly: ½" Hardie Soffit insulation panels on the sides and back of the grill create the buffer that a fiberglass galley installation demands. The cut-out dimensions are also slightly larger than the standard built-in — 49⅝" wide x 24¾" deep vs. 48⅜" wide x 24¼" deep — to accommodate those insulation panels. If you're installing in a fiberglass vessel, this is the correct model; the standard built-in is not.
Dual 10–60 Minute Timers with Automatic Shut-Off
Each control panel runs its own independent 10–60 minute countdown timer with automatic shut-off — the grill cuts power when time runs out, so an unattended galley grill never becomes a safety concern underway. The grill defaults to 350°F for 60 minutes on startup; press ON before the timer expires to reset to 60 minutes at your current temperature without interrupting the cook.
Even Heat, Dishwasher-Safe Cleanup
A stainless steel heat-flavor plate beneath the cooking grids distributes heat uniformly across the full 48" surface — no hot spots, no cold corners. All four porcelain-coated cooking grids and all four removable grease trays pull out easily and are dishwasher safe, so cleanup after a day on the water takes minutes, not an hour of scrubbing.
Installation Overview
The Diamond 48" Marine Built-In ships fully assembled. Prepare your vessel's galley cut-out and electrical connection before the grill arrives:
-
Prepare the marine cut-out — cut-out dimensions are 49⅝" wide x 24¾" deep x 10½" tall, measured from the countertop surface (including tile or finish thickness). Note these are larger than the standard built-in to accommodate the perimeter insulation panels. No bottom or sides are required inside the enclosure.
-
Use non-flammable enclosure materials — the galley island or surrounding structure must be non-flammable. The included insulation protects adjacent fiberglass hull and deck material; the enclosure frame itself should not be combustible.
-
Allow 3" minimum rear clearance — behind the grill for the hood to open fully. With the lid open, the grill stands 27" above the countertop.
-
Install a dedicated 208/220V 40A circuit — a NEMA 6-50R receptacle positioned behind the galley enclosure, on a 40-amp breaker. No extension cords.
-
Lower the grill into the cut-out — mounting flanges on the sides and back rest on the countertop surface and support the grill from above. Connect the power cord to the outlet.
-
Preheat 10–12 minutes at your desired temperature before first use, then grill.
Consult a licensed marine electrician for the vessel's electrical rough-in. Download the wiring diagram from the Manuals & Documents section below.
Who It's For — The Deck & Den Take
›
The Deck & Den Take — If you're outfitting a yacht, power boat, or sailboat with a permanent galley grill, this is the one to order — not the standard Diamond Built-In. The insulation isn't a nice-to-have on a fiberglass vessel; it's what makes the installation safe and appropriate. The cooking performance is identical to the land-based Diamond 48" Built-In, so you're not giving anything up. Plan your electrical rough-in for a NEMA 6-50R outlet at the galley station before this ships, and note that the marine cut-out is a touch wider and deeper than the standard built-in — measure carefully before your installer cuts. The galley is also a good landing spot for this grill in any compact outdoor kitchen island where the surrounding enclosure is fiberglass or composite rather than masonry.
-
Yacht and power boat owners building or refitting a deck galley who need a purpose-engineered marine grill with fiberglass-safe insulation and zero combustion risk aboard.
-
Sailboat owners seeking a high-output, built-in grill that runs on shore power or a generator without storing propane below deck.
-
Vessel designers and marine contractors specifying a flagship electric grill for luxury yacht galley builds — 1,056 square inches, dual zones, and the correct insulation package for a compliant fiberglass installation.
-
Owners of composite or fiberglass outdoor kitchen islands on land who need the insulated marine variant because their enclosure material requires the thermal barrier the standard built-in lacks.
-
Precision cooks on the water who want consistent, repeatable results at sea — dial in a temperature, hold it across both zones, and cook with the same precision you'd expect in a professional kitchen.
-
Buyers investing in a long-term vessel asset — 304 stainless steel built in Texas with a lifetime warranty on stainless steel assemblies is the material specification the marine environment demands.

Frequently Asked Questions
›
Why do I need the Marine model instead of the standard Diamond 48" Built-In for a boat or yacht?›
The Marine model adds ½" Hardie Soffit insulation on the sides and back of the grill body — a thermal barrier specifically designed to protect fiberglass hull material, composite decking, and cabinetry from the sustained heat of an 8,800-watt grill. The standard built-in omits this insulation because it assumes a masonry or steel-stud enclosure. If you're installing in a fiberglass vessel, the Marine model is the correct and safe choice; the standard built-in is not engineered for that enclosure material.
What are the exact cut-out dimensions for the Marine model?›
The marine cut-out is 49⅝" wide x 24¾" deep x 10½" tall, measured from the top of the countertop surface — including any tile or finish material thickness in that 10½" height. These are larger than the standard built-in's cut-out (48⅜" wide x 24¼" deep) to accommodate the perimeter insulation panels. No bottom or sides are required inside the enclosure. Measure carefully before cutting; the insulation panels add to the overall footprint.
Can the Marine Built-In be installed in a land-based outdoor kitchen — not on a boat?›
Yes. The Marine model can be installed in any outdoor kitchen island where the enclosure is fiberglass, composite, or another material that benefits from the added perimeter insulation. It is also the appropriate choice for any situation where extra heat shielding around the grill body is desirable. It installs and operates identically to the standard built-in, just with a slightly larger cut-out. A cover is recommended for installations without a roof.
What electrical outlet is required, and can a marine generator supply it?›
A NEMA 6-50R receptacle rated for 208/220V on a dedicated 40-amp single-phase branch circuit. Extension cords must not be used under any circumstances. On a vessel, this circuit should be installed by a licensed marine electrician and must be capable of supplying the grill's 8,800-watt draw. Confirm that your vessel's shore power connection or onboard generator can support this load before purchasing.
Is the enclosure required to have a bottom and sides inside the cut-out?›
No. The spec sheet states "No Bottom or Sides Required" inside the island cut-out. The grill's mounting flanges rest on the top surface of the countertop or deck and support the grill from above. The surrounding enclosure must be built from non-flammable materials.
How much rear clearance does the grill need?›
A minimum of 3" of clearance behind the grill body for the hood to open fully. With the lid fully open, the grill stands 27" above the countertop, so plan overhead clearance accordingly — particularly under a hardtop or bimini.
Do I get real sear marks with this electric grill?›
Yes. The grill reaches 600°F — hot enough to produce proper sear marks and a caramelized crust on steaks, fish fillets, and seafood. You get the sear without any gas or charcoal flavor; the taste comes entirely from the food.
What does each digital control zone independently control?›
Each panel operates its own half of the cooking surface — temperature setting and a 10–60 minute countdown timer — fully independently of the other. Run one side at searing temperature and the other at a lower finishing temperature simultaneously, with no cross-zone interference. Both timers cut power automatically when they reach zero.
How does the automatic shut-off timer work?›
The grill powers on at 350°F with a 60-minute countdown on each zone. Adjust the temperature with the arrow buttons. When the timer reaches zero, power to the heating elements cuts off automatically — a meaningful safety feature on a vessel where an unattended grill poses a greater risk than on land. Press ON before the timer expires to reset to 60 minutes at your current temperature.
Are there hot spots on the cooking surface?›
No. The stainless steel heat-flavor plate beneath the cooking grids distributes heat evenly across the full 48" surface — no burner-pattern hot spots, no cold zones. Consistent, even heat from edge to edge on every cook.
How long does it take to preheat?›
The owner's manual recommends preheating for 10–12 minutes at your desired temperature before placing food on the grill.
How do I clean the grids and grease trays after use?›
All four cooking grids and all four removable grease trays are dishwasher safe. You can also clean grids manually by soaking in hot soapy water to loosen buildup, then rinsing. For the stainless exterior, use warm soapy water and a soft cloth, wiping in the direction of the brushed grain. Never use abrasive cleaners, wire brushes, or scouring pads on any stainless surface or digital control panel — and rinse away salt spray regularly to maintain the 304 stainless finish in a marine environment.
Can I use an extension cord?›
No. The owner's manual explicitly prohibits extension cords. The grill must connect directly to a properly grounded 208/220V outlet. On a vessel, the outlet should be positioned behind the galley enclosure so the cord reaches without an extension.
What is the warranty on the Diamond 48" Marine Built-In?›
ElectriChef's limited warranty covers the stainless steel grill assemblies for the lifetime of the original purchaser. Cooking grids are warranted for 5 years, the stainless steel heat-flavor plate for 3 years, and all other electrical and mechanical components for a minimum of 1 year from the date of purchase. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship; it does not cover damage from misuse or negligence. Labor is not included, and return transportation costs for defective parts are the buyer's responsibility.
How does the Marine Built-In compare to the standard Diamond 48" Built-In in terms of cooking performance?›
Cooking performance is identical. Both models share the same 1,056-square-inch surface, 150°F–600°F temperature range, dual independent digital controls, dual 10–60 minute timers, 18-gauge 304 stainless construction, and 8,800-watt power draw. The sole difference is the Marine model's ½" perimeter insulation on the sides and back, and the correspondingly larger cut-out dimensions. You sacrifice nothing in output; you gain the insulation package appropriate for fiberglass installations.
Is a grill cover included, and what cover fits?›
A grill cover is not included. ElectriChef offers compatible built-in grill covers sized for the 48" model, available separately. Using a cover is particularly important in a marine environment to protect the stainless steel finish and digital controls from salt spray, moisture, and UV exposure when the grill is not in use.
Where are ElectriChef grills made?›
ElectriChef grills are built in Temple, Texas, USA.
