American Made Grills Muscle 54" Hybrid Grill

The Muscle 54" front panel is modeled after the 1969 Shelby GT 350 Mustang. The design is specific and intentional — not generic automotive styling, but a direct reference to one of the most iconic American muscle cars ever built. At 54 inches wide, the visual impact at full scale is substantial.

The Muscle 54" runs on natural gas or propane (select your gas type above before adding to cart). Its patented fuel tray system also supports charcoal briquettes, lump coal, hardwood, wood chips, wood chunks, and hardwood pellets. You can run gas alone, solid fuel alone after the gas ignites it, or both simultaneously for a hybrid cook that combines gas speed with solid-fuel flavor.

Yes, hardwood pellets are compatible with the fuel tray system — but the grill does not include a hopper or auger. You load pellets manually into the fuel trays, just as you would charcoal or wood. This is not a pellet grill replacement; there is no automated feed or temperature controller. For smoke enhancement alongside gas, pellets work well loaded in the trays and ignited by the gas burners.

The Muscle 54" delivers 176,000 total BTUs from seven 22,000 BTU 14-gauge stainless steel main burners, plus a drop-in infrared sear burner included in the box. This gives you enough output to run multiple high-heat zones simultaneously across the full 1,687 in² cooking surface.

AMG's patented 14-gauge fuel trays sit above the gas burners and below the V-grates. Load them with your choice of solid fuel, use the included grate-lifting tools to access the trays mid-cook without disrupting the grates, then light the gas burners to ignite the solid fuel. Run gas alone, solid fuel once combustion is established, or both simultaneously. The V-grate profile channels drippings into the trays, where they vaporize and return as flavor rather than flaring up as fire.

The cooking grates are reversible 9-gauge V-shaped #304 stainless steel. Reversible means each grate has two usable sides: one profile is optimized for beef, pork, and proteins; the other for fish and delicate items that benefit from a different contact surface. Flip the grates to switch between cooking styles without changing any other setup.

It is included in the box with every Muscle 54". The drop-in infrared sear burner ships as part of the standard accessory package alongside the rotisserie kit, griddle, fuel kit, and other included items.

The Muscle 54" measures 54.75 in wide × 33.25 in deep × 33 in tall (assembled). The required island cutout is 54 in wide × 25 in deep × 15 in tall. Always confirm against the AMG Cutout Dimensions Sheet (linked in Manuals & Documents above) before finalizing island construction. If your outdoor kitchen uses combustible materials such as wood framing, the Encore/Muscle 54" Insulating Grill Liner (GL-AMG54) is required and sold separately.

The Muscle 54" hood is 16-gauge double-lined #304 stainless steel with adjustable vents for airflow control. Spring assist means a counterbalance mechanism offsets the hood's weight so it opens smoothly with one hand and stays open without support — leaving both hands free while you tend the grill. The adjustable vents let you control airflow for smoking, convection roasting, or venting excess heat.

The MUS54-NG / MUS54-LP listed here is the built-in drop-in configuration for a custom outdoor kitchen island. The Muscle 54" is covered by American Made Grills' Gold Standard Lifetime Warranty. Structural and mechanical components — stainless steel construction, cooking grates, burners, burner covers, valves, flame tamers, heat zone separators, temperature gauges, hood springs, and the fuel tray system — are covered for life, 100% non-prorated. Electrical components, including LED bulbs, wire harness and switches, power source wire, transformer, and interior halogen light wire and bulb, are covered for 3 years. Labor is not included. The warranty is honored directly by American Made Grills. Register promptly after purchase to activate coverage.

The Muscle 54" ships with the grill head, a deluxe vinyl grill cover, rotisserie kit (100 lb-capacity motor), grate lifting tools, stainless steel griddle, drop-in infrared sear burner, fuel kit (wood & charcoal), care kit, and leather glove set — confirmed on the AMG manufacturer page.

Only with the correct insulating grill liner. AMG requires the Encore/Muscle 54" Grill Liner (model GL-AMG54, sold separately) for installations in outdoor kitchens constructed from combustible materials such as wood framing. Do not install without it in a combustible surround. Confirm clearance requirements against the AMG Cutout Dimensions Sheet before beginning construction.
